Fueling A Sustainable Future

We believe that creating a better world for generations to come starts today.

Our Collective Responsibility

At Ole Miss Dining, we’re committed to making a positive impact on campus and the community by focusing on responsible sourcing, reducing food waste, and offering nutritious meals made with responsible practices. From supporting local partners to making thoughtful choices in our dining operations, we’re working every day to build a more sustainable future. And you can be a part of the effort, too!

Ways to Go Green with Ole Miss Dining

  • Choose To Reuse!

To take food from our all-you-care-to-eat dining hall, guests must use a reusable to-go box. Boxes can be purchased at the register or are included in the Eco-Kit. Because our dining hall is all-you-care-to-eat, a to-go meal requires two swipes—one for entry and one for the to-go option. Once swiped, fill your box and you’re all set. Return your used box (even if it’s dirty) to the register on your next visit to receive a clean one.

  • Green Cleaning

Ole Miss Dining sources chemicals through EcoLab, which prioritizes product chemical safety and sustainability.

  • Babylon Microfarms

Our grow shelf utilizes hydroponics, the process of growing of plants without soil, to grow an array of greens and herbs for us to use in salads and other meals at our residential dining locations.

  • Food Donation

Ole Miss Dining partners with local pantries and shelters to donate food and grocery products to reduce food waste.

  • Green Restaurant Certified

We’re proud to be a 4-Star Certified Green Restaurant® through the Green Restaurant Association, recognizing our commitment to sustainability through waste reduction, energy and water conservation, and environmentally responsible operations across our dining program.
